Health Clinic
The health and safety of every Bearcat is a top priority at Pilot Point ISD. Our campus nurses are here to care for students throughout the school day — from managing chronic health conditions to handling everyday bumps, bruises, and illnesses. We work closely with families to make sure every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your campus nurse with questions or concerns about your child's health.
Meet Your Nurse

All students must be up to date on immunizations required by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), or have an on-file exemption. Immunization records must be submitted to the campus nurse before a student can begin attending class. Contact your campus nurse for the current immunization schedule or exemption affidavit information.

- Prescription and over-the-counter medication must be provided in the original container with a completed Medication Authorization Form signed by a parent/guardian (and physician, for prescription medication).
- Students may not carry or self-administer medication unless authorized in writing (e.g., asthma inhalers, EpiPens) under state law.
- All medication should be delivered to the school nurse's office by a parent or guardian.

To help prevent the spread of illness, please keep your child home if they have:
- A fever of 100°F or higher (students must be fever-free without medication for 24 hours before returning)
- Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
- A contagious illness or undiagnosed rash

Families of students with asthma, diabetes, severe allergies, seizure disorders, or other chronic health conditions should contact the campus nurse to establish an Individual Health Plan (IHP) or Emergency Action Plan.

In accordance with Texas law, PPISD conducts the following screenings:
- Vision and hearing screenings (select grade levels)
- Spinal screening/scoliosis (select grade levels)
- Acanthosis nigricans screening (Type 2 diabetes risk indicator, select grade levels)
Parents will be notified in advance and may opt their child out of screenings by contacting the campus nurse.

In the event of a medical emergency, school staff will administer first aid and contact parents/guardians immediately. If necessary, campus staff will call 911. Please ensure emergency contact information is kept current through the front office or ParentSquare.
